The TPU will be used for blow moulding and powder slush skins

Bayer MaterialScience has commissioned Geba Kunststoffcompounds to manufacture coloured Desmopan aliphatic TPU compounds for decorative automobile interior components.

Bayer MaterialScience said the TPU would be used for blow moulding and powder slush skins – mainly used on instrument panels, gloveboxes, door trims and post finishers.

TPU properties include good resistance to abrasion and scratching and soft touch surfaces. The company said they are a PVC-alternative for the manufacture of moulded skins. Ennigerloh-based Geba is aiming to reach capacity of 10,000 tonnes of raw granulate per year.
