A nano-coating has also been used to improve the performance of tennis ballsFinnish sports equipment firm Amer Group has used nanocomposite technology in the manufacture of a tennis racquet. The Wilson nCode uses nanotechnology fibres in strategic places of the frame to give “greater comfort, touch and power transmission” according to the company. The racquets are made with a special prepreg that is infused with nanoparticles of silicon dioxide. "These nano-sized particles fill the nano voids present in all carbon composites," said Bill Servera, director of technology at the innovations & design group of Wilson Sports – a subsidiary of Amer. “This gives the racquet a more solid feel.” The company has also used a nanocomposite coating to improve the performance of its Double Core tennis ball.
