BASF increases prices for 1,4-butanediol in Europe

Effective September 1, 2004, or as contracts allow, BASF will increase its prices for 1,4-butanediol in Europe by 0.10 €/kg.

These price increases are necessary as a result of further cost increases and unsatisfactory margins.

With seven plants on three continents BASF is the world’s largest manufacturer of butanediol and its derivatives. The company’s total annual capacity amounts to 575,000 metric tons of BDO equivalents worldwide. BDO and its derivatives are widely used for the production of engineering plastics, polyurethanes, solvents, electronic chemicals, and elastic fibers.
