Floor space is up 6% but exhibitor numbers are almost unchanged

K2004 will exceed the 2001 event in both exhibitor numbers and floor space, figures just released by Messe Dьsseldorf show.

By Wednesday of this week 2,893 companies from 53 countries had signed up, with net floor space covering 162,000 sq metres. Comparative figures for K2001 were 2,886 exhibitors covering 152,292 sq metres.

The organisers stressed the international nature of the show: more than 1,800 exhibiting companies – or 63% of the total – come from outside Germany. Italy leads the international contingent with 441 companies occupying nearly 30,000 sq metres. The UK is contributing 119 firms, taking up 4,290 sq metres.

The activity breakdown shows 1,770 plant and machinery companies, raw materials and auxiliaries 524, and semi-finished and technical parts 434.
