Once the deal is signed, improving the material’s quality will be the first priority

Degussa of Germany expects to finalise its joint agreement with Chinese polymer manufacturer Jida by the end of this year.

The deal, which was agreed in principle last May, will give Degussa worldwide marketing rights to Jida’s high-temperature plastics Peek and PES. “This will allow us to expand our portfolio,” said Christian Baron, head of technical marketing at Degussa.

Degussa’s range of plastics currently includes speciality nylons, PBT and PVdF. After the deal is signed, Degussa said its top priority would be to improve the Chinese material’s quality “so that it is the same as you could get from the competition”. Once the quality issue has been solved, Degussa will begin to market the material.
