Degussa-Rohm has started extrusion of its Plexiglas sheets near Moscow

A new extrusion plant producing Degussa-Rohm’s Plexiglas brand PMMA sheet has started up in the greater Moscow area town of Podolsk at Destek, a company in which Degussa-Röhm has a majority holding exceeding 50%.

The plant has an annual production capacity of “several thousand” tonnes of standard PMMA sheets in widths of 2,050mm, thicknesses between 1.5 to 12mm and standard lengths of 3.05 metres. Special lengths of up to 6 metres can also be made.

Sheets will be sold in Russia and the CIS through ZAO Orgsteklo and the Unichem group, with customers expected to come from the illuminated advertising, road noise insulation, and building and furniture industries.

Destek managing director Alexander Sukhovetsky said at the opening ceremony: “Already with the plant start-up, around 50% of the capacity has been taken up with orders for the Russian market”.
