The three-year deal is worth a minimum of E405,000South African packaging major Astrapak has licensed manufacturing and know-how from Symphony Plastic Technologies in a three-year deal worth a minimum of E405,000. The agreement allows Astrapak to make, sell and market an extensive range of polyethylene products using Symphony’s d2w degradable technology. The minimum volume of plastic to be converted is expected to be a minimum of 2,500 tonnes. According to Symphony chief executive Michael Laurier, the agreement formalises a longstanding relationship with the South African group, which is supplying some of the country’s largest companies with Symphony’s product. Symphony’s main product, d2w allows plastic to degrade leaving only water, carbon dioxide and trace amounts of biomass; the current range includes additives, mailing wrap, bags, sacks, stretch film and packaging films.
