The Italian manufacturer has already sold some machines in the domestic market

Among relatively few new all-electric machine announcements in the run-up to the K 2004 fair, the Italian manufacturer Plastic Metal (NPM group) has quietly launched its new Elettryka injection moulding range.

The official launch took place at the Samuplast fair in Pordenone, Italy at the end of May with a 100-tonne Elettryka driven entirely by electric motors. The machine was moulding 28mm diameter carbonated soft drink (CSD) closures with a cycle time of 6.7 seconds in an eight cavity mould.

Although NPM is among the exhibitors at K 2004, it has not yet revealed details of its exhibits at the show and therefore whether the Elettryka machine will also be seen in Düsseldorf.

It said that around ten of the new Elettryka machines had already been installed at customers prior to the official launch. The company has around 100 employees and was founded in 1954 by Antonio Virginio, who still runs the business today with his sons Marzia and Massimo Virginio.
