Demat has announced the new Extruma exhibition is to take place in Germany

Germany is to host a new European trade show aimed at plastics extrusion. Demat, organisers of the Euromold fair, announced today during a Euromold 2004 preview that it will launch the new Extruma plastics extrusion exhibition.

Project manager Dieter Apprich told PRW.com: “While injection moulding is well represented [in existing plastics events], extrusion has been less well covered. It’s not easy of course, as the machines are very large and expensive to exhibit.”

Demat expects exhibits to include blown and flat film lines, dies, extruders, components, ancillaries, downline equipment, raw materials and extruded products. In contrast to broad-based polymer technology fairs, Extruma will focus on the complete process chain in extrusion.

The supporting programme includes a conference, symposiums and workshops. University and research institutions will be encouraged to participate. The organisers have decided there will be no “live” operation of large machines and complete extrusion lines as this is cost intensive. Stand space is also limited to 50 square metres per exhibitor.

Demat’s aim is to have more than 150 exhibitors and 3,000 visitors at the first event.
