A 1,100-tonne ‘Titan’ machine will be exhibited at K2004

Demag Plastics Group is launching a new large two-platen injection moulding machine this summer. The Titan range will comprise six machines ranging from 1,100 to 4,000 tonnes clamping force.

Speaking at a K show preview in Germany last week, US chief executive Bill Carteaux said two machines were currently being built. A 1,100-tonne machine will be shown at the Düsseldorf K2004 show and the company is half way through building a 2,000-tonne machine at its US plant in Strongsville.

Machines up to 3,000 tonnes will be available by the middle of 2005, with the range extended to 4,000 tonnes in 2006. The Titan has wide tiebar clearances and high flexibility in the use of outsize moulds, Demag said. The machine combines Caliber product features with some Maxx machine features. The Titan has the common NC4 controller and advanced hydraulic drive technology. It has the linear-bearing guidance from the Maxx series.

Demag has also extended the all-electric El-Exis S range to include 550 and 750-tonne machines. The models are intended for heavy cavity and large stack moulds for packaging.
