MultiMedia Wales will have capacity for 15 million discs a yearMultiMedia Wales will have capacity for 15 million discs a year A record label boss has set up a recordable DVD manufacturing facility in south Wales with a capacity of 15 million discs a year. MultiMedia Wales is headed by Glenn Powell, whose SBS Records label is best known for putting out music by the Manic Street Preachers. The company has invested just under £5m (E7.5m) in a new factory in Oakdale, 20km north-west of Newport. Housed in a 1,250 sq metre building, with the option to double floorspace with the adjacent building, it will operate three Steag HamaTech production lines. Powell told PRW.com the company had purchased six Netstal e-Jet machines, two for each line, and is aiming to begin production in six to eight weeks. The company received financial assistance from the Welsh Assembly based on the number of jobs created. “By the end of September we will have about 29 people working at the factory,” Powell said.
