Italy accounts for more than 17% of consumption in EuropeItaly accounts for more than 17% of consumption in Europe Italy was the largest European market for blow-moulding in 2003, according to research group AMI. The country accounted for 17.6% of all polymer used in blow moulding in Europe. The second largest market was France with 16.7% of the demand for polymer in blow-moulding. The UK accounted for 13.6% and Germany 10.7%. AMI notes that Germany’s fourth position reflects its traditional resistance to the use of non-returnable plastics bottles. The market is shifting in Germany with the development of refillable containers, but the introduction of a deposit on one way packaging has undermined growth in the PET sector, it says. There are over 1,300 blow moulders in Europe, who used 4m tonnes of polymer in 2003, it said. AMI says polymer usage in the blow moulding industry has increased on average by 4.5% per annum since 2000. Source: PRW.com Previous news |
