Polyurethane Catalysts To Be Sold Under the Brand Name LupragenPolyurethane Catalysts To Be Sold Under the Brand Name Lupragen Unmistakable and uncomplicated: Starting from July, all members of BASF's polyurethane catalyst family (PUR catalysts) will be known by the brand name Lupragen®. The company has used the name for a number of years now to market new-generation low-emission PUR catalysts such as Lupragen® API. By applying the brand name to all the company's PUR catalysts, BASF is helping customers to keep track of what's what in the world's largest range of amines. The new name policy immediately identifies the chemicals belonging to this product class. To distinguish between the various catalysts, the products come with a suffix to the name. Lupragen® N 100 is dimethylcyclohexylamine, for example. PUR catalysts are needed to facilitate the reaction of the components isocyanate and alcohol to form polymers. The particular catalyst required depends on the desired properties of the PUR foam. Foams come in hard, semi-hard and soft varieties, which are suitable for different applications. Soft foams for instance are used for upholstering car seats, furniture and in mattress production. Hard and semi-hard foams are used for insulation, dashboards and insulating boards. BASF has more than 20 PUR catalysts in its product range, making it one of the world's leading suppliers in this field. The company manufactures PUR catalysts at its sites in Ludwigshafen, Germany and Geismar, USA. Source: SpecialChem Previous news |
