The £350,000 investment is the result of a 200% sales increase last year

UK-based PolyOne Performance Elastomers has invested £350,000 (E520,000) in a facility in the north-east of England. The 1,000 sq metre factory in Mossley Tameside, near Manchester has the potential to expand to 1,500 sq metres.

Technical manager Tom McCarthy told PRW.com: “We have seen a 200% sales increase over 2003, and this trend is continuing through 2004. The move and expansion is the result of this growth.” PolyOne Performance Elastomers will specialise in producing elastomers for the roller covering industry and high-quality custom compounding of elastomeric materials.

“PolyOne sees this plant as an opportunity to gain a foothold within the European market and one that will complement both the American and Chinese mixing facilities,” McCarthy added. The company previously shared offices with sister company PolyOne Newton Coated Fabrics in Hyde, Cheshire.
