Fire broke out at the industrial unit in Solihull, near Birmingham, on Saturday morning. A fire service spokeswoman told PRW.com that 20 fire engines and 100 fire fighters spent most of Saturday tackling the blaze. She said the whole building was destroyed. Objects stored in the unit included propane cylinders, a large quantity of acrylic sheets and five heavy goods vehicles that were also on fire. No one was hurt in the blaze. A number of roads in the area remained closed until early Monday morning. Aeroplanes flying into nearby Birmingham International airport were diverted because of smoke from the fire. Fire fighters were still at the scene on Monday morning. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet, but the spokeswoman said it was being treated as suspicious. She said the West Midlands fire service would work with police to ascertain the cause. A spokeswoman for Atofina told PRW.com the company was putting together emergency procedures to open the sales office. Source: PRW.com Previous news |
