Japanese automation firm targets UK and IrelandJapanese automation firm targets UK and Ireland Japanese automation firm Yushin Precision Equipment has established a subsidiary to serve the UK and Irish markets. Yushin Automation based in Cannock, West Midlands, will be the firm’s exclusive distributor for robots and provide sales and support to customers. It will take over the role from the previous agent Electron Tech. Peter Park-Davies, former managing director of Star Automation and sales manager at Engel UK, has been appointed managing director. He told PRW.com there were quite a lot of Yushin products in the UK and Ireland, many of which had been imported by US and Japanese moulders. “Yushin wants to support those customers and win new business.” The subsidiary will keep a stock of spare parts and common robot models in Cannock. Any products that need to be imported from Japan can be delivered quickly, thanks to a favourable deal on air freight, Park-Davies said. “We are more than happy to work with any machinery supplier, on machines from 30 tonnes to 5,000 tonnes,” he added. He was optimistic about the state of the UK plastics industry. “I’m pleasantly surprised by the level of enquiries. We’ve sold two robots in the first two weeks of trading.” Yushin Automation will initially have three employees; Park-Davies is looking to take on a further two agents this year.
