He succeeds Robert Genin, who is retiring after 25 years with the group

Werner Breuers has been appointed president of Basell Polyolefins Europe in succession to Robert Genin, who is retiring after 25 years with the group and its predecessors. Formerly employed by Hoechst and Targor, Breuers has previously been responsible for Basell’s technology and licensing business. In his new role he will be in charge of Basell’s polypropylene and polyethylene activities in Europe.

Just Jansz replaces Breuers with responsibility for licensing, catalysts and new ventures. The changes took effect yesterday. Basell chief executive Volker Trautz said: “Robert Genin contributed significantly to Basell in the pre-formation planning, the launch of our company in October 2000 and subsequently in leading Basell’s European polyolefins business during the first three years of its existence.”

Basell is the world’s leading polypropylene manufacturer and a major player in polyethylene and advanced polyolefin based products.
