Material claimed to reduce injection moulding cycle time and part reject rate

Rhodia Engineering Plastics has launched a polyamide grade designed to meet technical requirements for automotive vertical body panels. Technyl A 238P5 M25 is electro-paintable, withstands electro-coating temperatures up to 200°C and meets application requirements for impact, surface appearance and processability, said Rhodia.

Parts made from the material can be assembled prior to the electro-coating bath and pass through a curing oven at 200°C for 30 minutes. The thermal resistance of Technyl A 238P5 M25 is due to a pure PA66 polymer matrix modified with specific fillers.

Specific advantages of the material include “easy” processing on standard injection moulding machines. According to Rhodia, Technyl A 238P5 M25 reduces injection moulding cycle time and part reject rate and allows for simplification of mould design.

Technyl A 238P5 M25 is suitable for in-line and on-line painted parts, including vertical panels, fuel filler flaps, rocker pillars, front grilles and exterior trim applications.
