The commission has reviewed the situation for Textile PolyolefinsThe commission has reviewed the situation for Textile Polyolefins The European Commission has proposed the permanent abolition of anti-dumping duties on imports of plastic bags and sacks from Asia. It had originally planned to remove the duties in 2002, but the European Association for Textile Polyolefins – whose members are European bagmakers – requested this was reviewed. EATP initially claimed that removing the duties would cause the dumping to recur. It submitted enough evidence to spark the commission into investigating, with a view to renewing the duties. However, last October a commission note said the association withdrew its support for the review. No other details were revealed by the commission, except that it consulted other affected parties and received no comments from them. In the meantime the commission said its investigation “had not brought to light any considerations showing that such termination would not be in the [EU’s] interest”. Source: PRW.com Previous news |
