Degussa AG’s Business Unit Plexiglas names new chief

Bernd Pfeiffer took over as President of Business Unit Plexiglas of Degussa AG, Düsseldorf, effective November 1, 2003. At the same time he was appointed a member of the Management Board of Röhm GmbH & Co. KG, Darmstadt.

Mr. Pfeiffer began his professional career with Degussa in 1967. After completing his commercial training, he assumed responsibility in various sales and marketing departments of the company. From 1998 Bernd Pfeiffer was Vice President and General Manager of the Silicas and Silicates Business Line, and from 2001 in charge of the activities of Business Unit Advanced Fillers & Pigments in the NAFTA region.

Business Unit Plexiglas is the pioneer and specialist in methacrylate chemistry. The acrylic PLEXIGLAS was invented in 1933 by Dr. Otto Röhm. Today, Business Unit Plexiglas is a global player with 1,100 employees. It manufactures an extensive range of acrylic solid sheets, multi-skin and corrugated sheets, films, foams, tubes and rods, and focuses its market and product policy on a high degree of specialization and system solutions to suit individual applications.

Innovations and research activities concentrate on products with functional surfaces, special lighting engineering properties and a characteristic feel. PLEXIGLAS RP for producing brilliant images by means of rear projection technology is just one topical example. For the glazing sector, the business unit develops highly efficient and durable products with anti-graffiti surfaces.
