New president methacrylates of Degussa AG

Gregor Hetzke has been the new President of Business Unit Methacrylates of Degussa AG, Dьsseldorf, since November 1, 2003. At the same time he was appointed a member of the Management Board of Rцhm GmbH & Co. KG, Darmstadt. Mr. Hetzke is the successor to Dr. Thomas Haeberle, who relocated to the Marl Chemical Park as President of Site Services Marl on November 1, 2003.

Business Unit Methacrylates, with its Business Lines Bulk and Performance Monomers and Molding Compounds, is one of the world's leading suppliers of methacrylate chemicals. Methacrylic monomers are used to manufacture synthetic resins that act as binders in weather-resistant paints and lacquers.

Methyl methacrylate is employed in large quantities as an intermediate for manufacturing acrylic (PLEXIGLAS®). Under the trademark PLEXIGLAS®, Business Line Molding Compounds offers a complete range of standard, impact-modified and specialty molding compounds for traffic engineering, the construction and lighting industry, housewares and office technology, medical engineering, optics, electronics and communications technology.
