Work at Tech Group Europe follows orders from two pharmaceutical customers

Irish injection moulder Tech Group Europe is expanding to almost double its floorspace. Managing director David Moffitt told PRW.com builders were expected at the firm’s Dublin site on Monday to begin work on a 3,700 sq metre extension.

Moffitt said the extra capacity came on the back of new orders from two pharmaceutical customers. “We passed our five-year marker on 1 July last year and it took us that long to fit up our existing premises.” He added the firm is currently talking to machinery firms, as it planned to increase its 30 injection moulding machines to around 75.

About 90% of Tech Group Europe’s machines have been supplied by Netstal; Moffitt said the firms would continue their agreement. Tech Group has traditionally used hydraulic machinery, but is now looking to buy all-electric machines to suit the new work that will be carried out in a Class 10,000 cleanroom environment.

Moffitt said the expansion would not be reflected by a significant growth in the company’s workforce, due to plans for highly automated presses. He said about 50 extra staff would be needed.
