The UK group is working on a technology to separate single polymers from electrical and electronic waste

Sims Recycling Solutions has announced it is very close to finding the technology to separate single polymers from electrical and electronic waste. It hopes to give details on the process early next year.

Managing director Graham Davy told delegates at the Recycling and Waste Management Exhibition in September that Sims had been focusing on non-metals to meet the costs of recycling fridges and waste electrical and electronic equipment (PRW.com 5 September).

A spokesman told PRW.com: “We have been looking at what’s available and are hoping to have an answer come early next year.” He said the firm has decided on equipment, but was waiting for approval from its parent company. “It’s a case of getting our Australian parent company to give us the go-ahead. “Single polymer separation will open up a lot more markets for recycled plastics.”
