Nubiola has launched a new ultramarine blue pigmentNubiola has launched a new ultramarine blue pigment Nubiola has launched an ultramarine blue pigment which it says is much easier to process than existing blue colours. The Nubiperf range contains smaller particles than are normally used, which the company says makes it easier to disperse within masterbatches. The pigments are specially developed for use with moisture-sensitive polymers such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polycarbonate (PC). According to the company, Nubiperf's improved processing properties can enable users to increase productivity by as much as 25% compared with conventional blue pigments. Feeding into the extrusion process is said to be easier and the smaller particles cause less clogging of sieves inside the processing equipment, therefore reducing machine downtime caused by cleaning and maintenance. Colour is said to be extremely consistent from one lot to the next and because the pigment does not contain any free sulphur and contains only a small amount of water, Nubiola says it will not produce any unpleasant odours during processing, which is often a problem for other blue pigments.
