The company will supply truck tyres in three continentsThe company will supply truck tyres in three continents Goodyear has reached three-year global tyre agreements with the Volvo Group in Europe and Brazil. Last month Goodyear was named standard equipment tyre supplier for the Volvo Group’s Volvo and Mack truck operations in North America. The company will now be a key supplier to Volvo’s major truck brands – Renault, Volvo and Mack – on three continents. In Europe Volvo vehicle tyres are produced at Goodyear plants at Colmar Berg in Luxembourg, Wittlich in Germany and Kranj in Slovenia. A Goodyear spokesman told PRW.com there were no plans to increase capacity at the plants, or recruit staff, as a result of the contract. Goodyear chairman and chief executive Robert J. Keegan said: “Our commercial tyre businesses around the world are poised for growth in 2004 and will play a significant role in improving our company performance.” Henry Johnson, managing director of Goodyear's truck tyre business in Europe, said Volvo chose Goodyear following a year-long review of the company's product range and performance, advanced technology, and its service and delivery capability, in all three regions.
