Global Giants of Medical Plastics Industry Unveil the Trend of Future

 |  Subj: Press-releses

Plastics and rubber has become important raw materials for the manufacturing of medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging. With vigorous development of the industry, a wide variety of high-performance plastics technology applied in medical devices are available. In addition to traditional materials, such as PP, PVC, PE, silicone rubber which are commonly used in the medical industry, some high-performance materials, such as polyether ether ketone (PEEK), biocompatible polycarbonate (PC), thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), etc. have become significant materials for the development of medical industry.

With strong corrosion resistance, water resistance, chemical resistance, PEEK is inert and unreactive to body fluids, and it can be applied in implanted medical equipment, such as gastrointestinal stents and implantable body fluid pumps which help to relief suffering of patients. The usage of PEEK can eliminate painful brought to patients in the process of puncture.

In the healthcare industry, the main application of 3D printing is model-building, and now the technology can be applied to personalized surgical implants, skeleton framework and tissue regeneration, etc. Currently, repair of bones, printing of heart, artificial blood vessels are no longer impossible, and it is expected that the application of 3D technology in medical industry would be infinite.

The Triumphant Return of Medical Plastics Conference
CHINAPLAS will launch its 30th edition on April 25-28, 2016 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre, PR China. With immensely positive audience feedback in the last edition, the Medical Plastics Conference will stage its 2nd edition at the fairground on April 25 and 26 to share high-end technology and remarkable insights, and demonstrate how medical plastics technology drives the innovation of the medical industry.

At the conference, Shanghai MicroPort Medical (Group) Co., Ltd. will share "The Technology of Precision Medical Polymer Tube for Invasive Medical Device". Precision medical tubes are widely used in invasive medical devices, and their properties will determine the performance of these invasive devices. The presentation will introduce the technologies in producing precision medical polymer tube, which are critical in deciding their properties.

Besides, Ms. Stefania Marconi, Biomedical Engineer, PhD in Experimental Surgery and Microsurgery from the University of Pavia, will discuss about "Plastic Materials in 3D Printing: Surgical Planning and Clinical Applications". Her presentation will focus on standard plastic materials to high-resolution photopolymers to biocompatible materials, the applications of 3D printing on anatomical prototyping for surgical planning, and 3D printing of biocompatible implants.

Cutting-edge Plastics Technologies are Under the Same Roof
The medical plastics and processing technologies tailor-made for medical industry are kept on developing. This enhances the production efficiency and product quality of medical devices and disposable medical products, responding to the growing market demand and creating numerous business opportunities. In addition to the Medical Plastics Conference, CHINAPLAS 2016 will also exhibit a variety of medical plastics, molds for medical supplies and injection molding technology for the production of petri dish. Partial advanced exhibits include:

Covestro Polymers (China) Co., Ltd. - Polycarbonate Makrolon®
The patient swallows a small capsule with built-in camera, which is transported through the digestive tract while delivering images of the stomach and intestinal walls. The high-tech polycarbonate Makrolon® from Covestro, which is used for the capsule shell, is biocompatible and safe. Through its good formability it is allowing for a large filming angle for the camera.

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Silcotech (Huizhou) Co.,Ltd - Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) injection molding
Silicone parts are widely used in medical device and applications. Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) injection molding can produce clean, high quality with high precision medical parts. Morever, this technology enables us to produce dedicated silicone parts with low shot weight and with complex geometrical features.

Mold-Masters(Kunshan)Co.,Ltd. - Side Gating Solution- Melt-Disk, Melt Cube
Melt-Disk and Melt Cube are specially designed for side gating applications. The Mold-Masters patented technology is perfect for deep draw parts such as pipette tips, syringe barrels, needle shields or smaller parts where only side gating is permitted.

Formosa Plastics Corporation -Yungsox medical PP product
Yungsox medical PP products are suitable for IV bottles/bags, syringes and pharmaceutical bottles. These materials offer superior properties such as excellent heat resistance, transparency and low extractions in n-hexane. They meet the requirements of USP Plastic Class VI and certificated with DMF, file no. 24843.

Clariant Chemicals (China) Ltd.- MEVOPUR® Masterbatches and Compounds for Medical and Pharmaceutical Applications
Designers and manufacturers of medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging invest significant time and money in meeting performance and regulatory standards to fulfill the increasingly stringent demands of these global markets. Materials that can help minimize the risks and costs of non-compliance in a product’s development and lifecycle are vital to this process. To meet preferred manufacturing processes, colors and/or functional additives are provided as concentrate masterbatches for dilution into another polymer or as small lot pre-color compounds.

ARBURG (Shanghai) Co Ltd - Tablet Cutter
ARBURG will show one automation system for tablet cutter production with 4+4 hot runner mould, metal cutter insert loading, finished parts take out and parts assembly will be integrated in one automation system, the size of tablet cutter is about 80*40*20mm,material is PC. It is used to split the tablet in two parts and it can also save several tablets.
