Kazanorgsintez: Start-up of the pelletizing line for bimodal high density polyethylene production

Development concept of PJSC “Kazanorgsintez” for the period from 2013 to 2016 provides for Plan of activities on stabilization of the process at HDPE plant intended to compounding facilities modernization. This plan includes the modernization of the compounding unit for production of “black pipe grade” PE2NT11-9. New compounding line of Coperion at HDPE plant will allow full processing of the basic product from reactor A to HDPE composition, PE2NT11-9 grade, being more in demand and market-attractive, and which is light-stabilized by carbon black for manufacture of PE pipes. The production of this high demand and competitive product will be increased from 30 to 50%. This result will further strengthen the position of PJSC “Kazanorgsintez” as the indisputable leader in the production of HDPE pipe grades in the Russian Federation.

Modernization of cracking furnaces unit at production shop No. 0771-0776 of the Ethylene plant is one of the current and top-priority tasks. Therefore, a decision to design and construct a new Technip cracking furnace with the capacity of 36 t/h of ethane-propane feedstock was made to fulfill the above-mentioned task. The facility is designed for the production of 138 thousand tons per year. The start-up of this facility will ensure the steady and uninterrupted operation of E-500 Unit and the Company in whole.

The start-up of Technip new double-cell cracking furnace at E-100 Unit instead of the old, outdated and deteriorated furnaces will ensure the operational efficiency increase of the whole ethylene complex both by means of expansion of the ethylene production and thanks to qualitative parameters improvement of the generated steam.

PJSC “Kazanorgsintez” is one of the largest enterprises in the Russian Federation (member of TAIF Group). The Company produces over 38% of all Russian polyethylene thus being the leading exporter thereof. At present, the Enterprise produces polyethylene and pipes thereof, phenol, acetone, bisphenol A, as well as polycarbonates. The overall products list includes 170 items. The Company’s annual output amounts to 1.6 million tons.
