Krauss-Maffei UK has followed Engel in withdrawing from the Interplas 2005 show

Managing director of the Warrington-based injection moulding machine supplier Glyn Isaac said: “The Interplas exhibition in Birmingham can no longer be the main focus of our marketing activities as the cost benefit relationship does not stack up in the current market.” Isaac added that the K show is the focus of the development cycle. It will be encouraging its UK customers to attend the fair in Düsseldorf next autumn.

Jim Hughes, key account manager at organiser Reed Exhibitions, said the show always has one or two manufacturers that decide not to exhibit for internal reasons. “However, this is balanced by first-time exhibitors and new companies, so the show continues to be the premier showcase for the plastics industry.”

He said 30% of the floor space already have been booked by a variety of exhibitors, even though the show is two years away. With the 2005 show mixing material and equipment firms for the first time, Hughes was encouraged by Distrupol’s decision yesterday to book a large stand in Hall 5.
