Arburg to exhibit high-end packaging machine at the Interplastica

At the Interplastica trade fair, which will be held in Moscow from 27 to 30 January 2015, Arburg will present an efficient production solution based around a hybrid Allrounder from the high-performance Hidrive series focusing on the packaging industry. At exhibition stand B17 in Hall 3, a “Packaging” version of the Allrounder 570 H will produce 24 high screw caps in a cycle time of 3.5 seconds.

In the packaging industry, fast, high-quality volume production using reliable and efficient technology is required. In order to meet these high demands, Arburg offers a “Packaging” (P) version of the high-performance hybrid and electric Hidrive and Alldrive machines.

The high performance capabilities of these machine series will be impressively demonstrated at the Interplastica through an Allrounder 570 H in the “Packaging” version and a complex packaging application. This exhibit, featuring a clamping force of 1,800 kN and a size 800 injection unit, is equipped with a 24-cavity mould from Z-moulds and produces high-quality screw caps in a cycle time of 3.5 seconds. Downstream from the injection moulding process is a closure cooling unit from Green Box. The screw caps are therefore cooled down immediately after demoulding on a cooling line to ensure a high degree of dimensional stability. The flawless quality of all the finished parts is then checked inline at an optical quality control station supplied by Intravis.

"Packaging" version: high performance and fast
The Allrounders in the “Packaging version combine high productivity with reduced energy consumption and are characterised by a well-balanced combination of distance between tie-bars, clamping force and opening stroke. Moreover, they provide fast, precise, energy-saving mould movements (through servo-electric toggle-type clamping units), high plasticising flow rate (through barrier screws and servo-electric dosage drives), dynamic position-regulated screws and effective injection volume flows.

Special features for screw cap production
In addition to the basic equipment in the “Packaging” version, special features are available that enable the machines to be adapted to particular applications for the production of thin-walled items and screw caps. Fast, reliable ejection of mass-produced parts is what counts in screw cap production. A servo-electric ejector with a hydraulic booster function, i.e. an increased ejection force of 250 kN, is available for this purpose. This ensures problem-free demoulding, even in the case of shrunk-on closures. The “eject” and “open mould” steps can be synchronised. The dropping of the moulded parts can be precisely adjusted to keep the mould opening times short. Higher screw circumferential speeds enable correspondingly short dosage times. This permits very fast cycle times to be achieved.
