The German rigid film producer has bought the Riflex Film's rigid PVC and PET business

German rigid film producer Kleckner Pentaplast GmbH has extended its core business by buying a Scandinavian rival. Kleckner has bought the rigid PVC and PET business of Riflex Film, including machines, equipment and licences, from parent company Skanem of Norway.

Riflex currently has two plants. Its facility in Halden, Norway, will close and flexible PVC produced at its Ronneby plant in Sweden. Kleckner will transfer rigid film production to its own plants – mainly at Weert in The Netherlands – over the next three to six months.

Riflex’s main business is in monofilm and PVC/PE laminates for thermoformed packaging and the pharmaceutical industry. The purchase price was not disclosed. The deal is subject to the approval of trust authorities.
