Monopigment masterbatches launched for PVCuMonopigment masterbatches launched for PVCu Colour Tone Masterbatch, based in Caerphilly, UK, has launched a new range of monopigment masterbatches as an alternative to pigment colouring systems in PVCu processing. Based on Vynacol colouring technology, the masterbatches incorporate a typical pigment loading of 65%. According to Colour Tone, the granules are clean and easy-to-use, and eliminate the generation of dust during processing. Because the masterbatches are polymer specific, the company says they can be used at higher levels than other pre-dispersed colour systems with no adverse effects on processing or physical properties in the finished product. Using fine pigment powders can lead to cross contamination but this is not a problem with the new masterbatches, says Colour Tone. Housekeeping is greatly reduced, with the company claiming that some PVCu film producers have achieved up to 75% savings on cleaning times when using the masterbatches in place of conventional pigments. The masterbatches are supplied pre-dispersed to enable processors to control and match colours on-site. During processing, the company says the high level of concentrate dispersion often means that pigment levels can be reduced, cutting material costs. Most monopigment concentrates are custom-made using generic or specific pigment grades and a limited range is held in stock. Dyestuff based formulations have also been developed to suit most applications. Source: SpecialChem S.A. Previous news |
