The PVC profile manufacturer has invested in the new plant

HT Troplast, one of Europe’s leading PVC profile manufacturers, has started production of its own PVC stabilisers. HT’s Profine subsidiary will cover the KBE, Kцmmerling, Trocal and Knipping profile brands extruded at the various group locations in Berlin, Pirmasens and Troisdorf.

The company has invested E4m in the plant, with 20% of that being provided by the local state of Rhineland Palatinate. The plant is at the same location as the Kцmmerling plant in Pirmasens near Saarbrьcken. It will provide 7,000tpa of calcium-zinc stabilisers for the group’s 300,000tpa PVC compound production once it reaches capacity in mid-2004.

Profine marketing manager Heinz Wagner said: “We expect that with direct connection between our stabiliser production and extrusion lines we will be able to increase our quality, as we can adapt the stabiliser exactly to our extrusion needs.”

He stressed that Troplast was not dissatisfied with its external suppliers, which will continue to supply some calcium-zinc stabilisers until the plant reaches capacity. They will also be the source of raw materials for the plant.
