Arburg presents high-end exhibits at the FIP in Lyon

The "FIP Solution Plastique – international exhibition for the plastics industry" will be held in Lyon, France from 17 to 20 June. On its exhibition stand no. F19/G26, Arburg will present two high-end exhibits with sophisticated applications: Thin-walled food containers will be produced on a hybrid Allrounder 520 H and optical magnifying glasses made from highly transparent LSR on an electric Allrounder 370 E.

The FIP, which takes place every three years, is the only French trade fair for plastics technology. Trade experts and decision makers from a wide range of plastic processing industries come together for this exhibition event. The event is accompanied by an international conference with presentations, workshops and seminars.

Marc Schuh, Manager of Arburg SAS in Aulnay Sous Bois, describes the trade fair appearance: "Because the FIP is of great importance for us, we will be presenting two highly sophisticated applications from the packaging and optics sectors. Both are extremely important for the French market and have grown dynamically in recent years. The production of food containers on a hybrid Allrounder 570 H in the "Packaging" version and optical magnifying glass made from LSR on an electric Allrounder 370 E show that our sophisticated machine technology is fully capable of handling such complex production tasks. On our exhibition stand, the two exhibits are complemented by the Arburg host computer system (ALS) for the planning and control of the entire injection moulding production process. We will also be looking at Arburg's new sector, additive manufacturing. In addition to a video providing more detailed information on the basic technology of the Freeformer, which celebrated its world premiere at the K 2013, Martin Neff will also give a presentation on the subject of 'Additive manufacturing with the new Freeformer at the associated '3D Print' event’. We are thus presenting ourselves to our customers at the FIP with a comprehensive mix of technology and expertise in plastics processing."

Hybrid Allrounder in packaging version produces food containers
The fast, hybrid Allrounder 570 H in the "Packaging" (P) version is specially tailored to the packaging sector. It features a clamping force of 1,800 kN and is equipped with a size 800 injection unit. The dynamics of the removal robot with special gripper from Star Automation are in conformance with the speed of the machine. Thin-walled food containers with a capacity of 1 litre are produced in only 2.9 seconds using a two-cavity mould from Hofstetter. This type of high-speed Packaging machine enables Arburg to achieve its goal of production efficiency, i.e. cost-effective part production at low unit costs throughout the entire value-added chain.

Packaging version: high performance and speed
In order to meet the high demands of the packaging industry, Arburg offers "Packaging" (P) versions of the hybrid and electric Hidrive and Alldrive high-performance machines. These combine high productivity with reduced energy consumption and are characterised by a well-balanced combination of distance between tie-bars, clamping force and opening stroke. Moreover, they provide precise, energy-saving mould movements (thanks to servo-electric toggle-type clamping units), high plasticising performance (thanks to barrier screws and servo-electric dosage drives), dynamic position-regulated screws and effective injection volume flows.

Electric Allrounder with LSR application
A magnifying glass made from a new, highly transparent liquid silicone is produced on the second exhibition machine, an electric Allrounder 370 E. The material has a hardness of 60 Shore A. This application features not only the four-cavity LSR mould, but also the specially adapted cold runner technology from cooperation partner Rico. These open cold runner systems come into their own in the automated injection moulding of LSR, achieving material savings, reducing cycle times and waste-free production.

Edrive as electric entry-level model
With the Allrounder Edrive as entry-level model in the world of electric machines and the ideal alternative to hydraulic standard machines, speed, precision, energy-efficiency and minimised emissions are combined in a high-quality machine concept. High levels of repeat accuracy and part quality, an up to 50 percent reduced energy requirement compared to hydraulic machines, as well as liquid-cooled, encapsulated servo-electric drives and energy recovery during braking are features that enable this machine series to operate with production-efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Exhibits Allrounder 370 E et 570 H entitled to energy saving certificate
The French energy provider EDF Entreprises will be paying a significant bonus for companies procuring an electric or hybrid injection moulding machine in France. The campaign is based on the CEE energy saving certificate that was set down in law in 2005 with the aim of significantly reducing industrial energy consumption. The certificate, which is specially intended for electric or hybrid injection moulding machines, was introduced at the end of 2013. The subsidy is available for electric and hybrid Allrounder machines from the Alldrive, Edrive and Hidrive.
"In addition to the EDF campaign, we are this year establishing further incentives for investing in energy-saving machines in order to improve production efficiency. All customers who purchase an Allrounder subsidised by EDF Entreprises also receives the preparation for use with an Integralpicker or three-axis Multilift robotic system free-of-charge from us, " says Marc Schuh.

Production-efficient individual solutions

"With our Allrounders, our applications, the ALS presentation and the information on our new Freeformer, we present ourselves as the partner for production efficiency, who thinks, develops and implements in a future-oriented manner, to the industry insiders at the FIP," says a delighted Marc Schuh at the exhibition. "We offer a tailored production solution, including automation, for every customer task. Together with our service and know-how, this makes us the first choice as a plastics technology supplier for France."
