SIMONA at IFAT 2014

SIMONA AG, a leading manufacturer of thermoplastic products, will be showcasing a number of innovations at IFAT 2014 (Munich, 5 to 9 May 2014), the emphasis being on piping systems tailored to the requirements of environmental protection and operational safety. In addition to actual exhibits from the SIMONA® Piping Systems range, trade visitors will be able to focus on specific fields of application with the help of interactive media presentations.

World's first seamless bend up to da 1,000 mm
SIMONA has extended its product range of seamless bends by including diameters from 710 mm to 1,000 mm. In doing so, SIMONA has become the first producer to supply seamless bends in these sizes. In contrast to segmentwelded bends, seamless bends can withstand full pressure loads. Due to their smooth interior surface, they also offer excellent hydraulic properties. SIMONA will be showcasing its latest innovation by unveiling a particularly impressive exhibit at the trade fair – measuring 1,000 mm in diameter.

SIMODUAL² Industrial Double-Containment Pipes – Standardised end-to-end system for safe handling of aggressive substances
In introducing a standardised end-to-end system, SIMONA AG has extended its portfolio of products for safety-specific applications. One of the unique features of the SIMODUAL² Double-Containment Piping System is the ability of the protective pipe to withstand full pressure loads, thus ensuring process stability in the event of an incident. What is more, in the case of SIMODUAL² Double-Containment Pipes the anchor points are secured by mechanical means rather than being welded. This translates into shorter installation times and tangible cost savings. Alongside the pipe modules, SIMONA supplies a complete range of fittings in a twin-wall design. Both the media-carrying pipe and the protective pipe are available in a wide range of PE and PP material combinations.

SIMONA® Multilayer Pipes with functional layers – Abrasion-resistant pipelines for demanding applications
The strain exerted on the interior surfaces of a plastic pipe by impact and abrasion can be considerable, e.g. during the hydraulic transport of solid materials such as sand, gravel and loose stones. Coextruded SIMONA® PE 100 Pipes feature integral or additional interior skins made of high-molecularweight PE or modified polyolefins. Boasting high abrasion resistance, they are capable of withstanding extreme mechanical loads. The coextruded pipes can be supplied in designs up to da 630 mm/SDR 11.

SIMONA® Double-Containment Piping Systems – Sustainable solutions for deployment in drinking-water protection areas
SIMONA® Double-Containment Piping Systems for substances hazardous to water are capable of retaining within the protective pipe any wastewater that might have been discharged from the media-carrying pipe. Inspection systems installed within the associated shaft/manhole structures can be used to detect the problem and safely dispose of the wastewater. The space between inner pipe and protective pipe can be tested for watertightness during operation. SIMONA® Double-Containment Piping Systems can be used in both pressure- and gravity-based applications. Alongside inspection shafts for double-containment pipes, SIMONA also supplies the full range of double-containment pipe fittings required in this field.

SIMONA® SPC RC-Line Protective-Jacket Pipes and SIMOFUSE® Pipe Modules – Sewer Rehabilitation with certified products
SIMONA® SPC RC-Line Protective-Jacket Pipes are coextruded multilayer pipes. They consist of a PE 100 RC inner pipe and an additional protective jacket made of highly abrasion-resistant polypropylene. All SIMONA® Protective-Jacket Pipes meet the requirements of PAS 1075 and are independently tested by TÜV Süddeutschland.

The company's SIMOFUSE® joining technology has been adapted and refined for use in pressure piping systems. With an operating pressure of up to 8 bar, substances are transported through the pipe safely without any leakage. Product certification was issued by Materialprüfanstalt (MPA) Darmstadt. Thanks to the push-fit system, the individual pipe modules can be joined with ease even in cramped conditions.
