The West Midlands bag manufacturer had lodged a bid of $9.63m (E8.2m) with the court handling the sale and looked to be the only interested party. But in the auction VS Packaging – a joint venture between US bag makers Vanguard Plastics and Sigma Plastics Group – beat it by $300,000 (E255,000). Despite the setback, Euro Packaging managing director Afzal Majid was upbeat about plans for expansion in the US. He told PRW.com: “We are studying something else.” Orange produces grocery bags and industrial liners, turning over around $50m (£32m) a year.
