Bayer and Its Employees Provide Help to the Philippines

In view of the devastation in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan, Bayer and its employees are providing help. First of all, the company is providing immediate financial aid to the value of EUR 100,000 to the German Red Cross. Bayer intends the money to be used to support the work of medical teams and the operation of health centers in the disaster area. Bayer will also provide the Red Cross in the Philippines with urgently needed medicines to the value of around EUR 400,000.

In addition to the immediate relief, Bayer is also launching an appeal to its employees worldwide to donate through the Bayer Cares Foundation. The company will match the donations up to an amount of EUR 150,000. These funds are to be used for a reconstruction project yet to be defined in one of the worst affected areas. Bayer employs some 900 people in the Philippines. None of the employees was injured as a consequence of the typhoon.
