Odor control on sportswear that does not wear off during wearing or washing – the new Sukano® Antimicrobial Masterbatches bring permanent protection against unpleasant odor into a garment over its complete lifetime. Sukano® Antimicrobial Masterbatches combine Sukano’s functional masterbatch expertise with the patented PURE technology by Swiss textile performance expert HeiQ Materials. This technology uses the natural properties of silver for controlling bacterial activity on the fiber surface, thus reducing the production of odor. Sukano is exclusive partner of HeiQ for this technology.

What is the SUKANO® Antimicrobial Masterbatch offering?
Sukano® Antimicrobial Masterbatches integrate silver into the polymer that features a controlled release of silver ions in the application. This enables fiber manufacturers to spin pre-dyed fibers with a permanent antimicrobial effect – a decisive advantage over finishes that will wear off after only a few wash cycles. Beyond that benefit, Sukano® Antimicrobial Masterbatches offer several other key features: They are effective in very low concentration, which makes them a cost attractive alternative for fiber producers. The good dispersion of the silver in the masterbatch enables production of low denier microfilament fibers and speeds up the spinning process: There are fewer brakes during spinning compared to other silver technologies and filter change intervals are longer. Thanks to the patented technology the silver treatment features high functional performance with no side effects, i.e. no yellowing and no impact on the fiber’s physical properties.

The antimicrobial technology used in Sukano® Antimicrobial Masterbatch is Bluesign® and Oekotex® approved and wash resistant (300 cycles at 60 °C). It is manufactured and supplied globally by Sukano.
