Uhde Inventa-Fischer to build plant for FRX Polymers Europe

 |  Subj: Press-releses

The plant engineering and construction company, Uhde Inventa-Fischer, has won a turnkey contract to build the world's first commercial-scale plant for production of Nofia™, an inherently flame retarding polymer (polyphosphonate – PPhos) used as a blend component to impart flame retardancy to other host plastics, for the Belgian subsidiary of US-based FRX Polymers, Inc.. The plant will be located in Antwerp, Belgium, and will use FRX Polymers, Inc. proprietary, patented polycondensation process. This flame-retardant polymer, which will be marketed under the trademark Nofia™, is ecofriendly, halogen-free, transparent and inherently flame-resistant, making it highly suited for use in the building, transportation as well as in the electronic and electrical industries.

Uhde Inventa-Fischer and FRX Polymers, Inc. have been collaborating closely in the development and optimization of research-intensive, flame-retardant specialty polymers since many years. “Right from the start, we could clearly sense Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s strong commitment to our joint success,” said Marc Lebel, President and CEO of FRX Polymers, Inc.. “We are extremely pleased to be on course for expansion with a partner like Uhde Inventa-Fischer at our side”. Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s scope of supplies will include the basic and detail engineering, supply of all equipment and components, the construction and mechanical completion of the plant. The civil engineering will be carried out by ThyssenKrupp Uhde GmbH.

Uhde Inventa-Fischer is a leading international engineering company located in Berlin, Germany, and Domat/Ems, Switzerland. Its scope of services includes the development, engineering and construction of industrial plants for the production of polyester, polyamide and polylactic acid. The company has built and commissioned more than 400 production plants throughout the world. On joining the ThyssenKrupp Uhde group in 2004, the company also became part of the Business Area Industrial Solutions of ThyssenKrupp AG.
