The automotive supplier will supply thermoplastic panels for the new Smart ForfourThe automotive supplier will supply thermoplastic panels for the new Smart Forfour Peguform is to supply the body panels for the new Smart Forfour (four doors, four people). Karl-Heinz Kalmbach, leader of exteriors at Peguform in Bötzingen, told PRW.com the parts will be moulded at the company’s plant in Oldenburg, northern Germany. The car will be constructed by DaimlerChrysler in Born, The Netherlands, in a plant shared with Mitsubishi. Peguform already supplies SMC parts to Smart’s Hambach plant in France for the Smart Roadster’s horizontal panels. The Forfour will use only thermoplastic panels, Kalmbach said, as in the original Smart design. Smart has departed from the original concept used in Hambach, where a Dynamit Nobel plant on the same site passes the body panels through to the assembly area. Oldenburg is 356 km from Born. Peguform, a major supplier to the automotive industry, remains in insolvency administration. Source: PRW.com Previous news |
