With more than 160 guests from the industry, government and the media, Baerlocher Plastic Additives (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. opened its new plant in Changzhou (China) on October 19.

The plant, wholly owned by Baerlocher, can reach up to a capacity of 40,000 t and will produce Ca-based and Pb-based-stabilizer systems. The operation is supported by a “state of the art” application laboratory. The project, which is the biggest investment of the Baerlocher Group of Companies during the past five years, is located in Changzhou, Province Jiangsu.
Prior to the grand opening, the Baerlocher management met with Chinese officials. In this meeting, Dr. Michael Rosenthal, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Baerlocher Group of Companies, expressed gratitude for the support by the government and outlined further investment plans.

After an accompanied tour through the plant, the opening ceremony started with an introductory speech by Malpaso Cheng, Managing Director Baerlocher Malaysia. The event continued with a keynote speech by Huang Lianxi, Chairman of China Liansu Group Holdings Limited. Liansu is the largest manufacturer of plastic pipes and fittings in China.

In his speech, Dr. Michael Rosenthal pointed out that China had been the biggest growth market for PVC for many years, and with this project, Baerlocher continues its policy of investing locally to support regional needs with innovative solutions.
The event was adorned with a traditional Chinese Lion Dance. This dance is usually performed at important grand occasions, to bring good luck and fortune to the business. During the banquet, Chinese artists performed Sichuan Opera elements and Jiang Nan Si Zhu, a style of traditional Chinese instrumental music of the region.

Arne Schulle, CEO of the Baerlocher Group of Companies, further explained the relevance of the investment: „This operation, which already employs more than 50 people, will help us to further meet the needs of a dynamic market utilising local talents. This will be actively supported by our global team and will enhance our position as the global leader in Ca-based-stabilizer systems.”

Baerlocher, through its local sales company Baerlocher (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd., which has been operating since 2007, has been the leading importer of solid PVC stabilizers in the region. They will continue to provide innovative tailor-made products for the local market, now supported by local production and technical service.
The project further complements Baerlocher’s regional strategy following the earlier establishment of the production joint venture, Jiangsu U&B, which manufactures liquid mixed metal stabilizers for the local market.
