Sanner GmbH is introducing new plastic packaging for pharmaceutical, medical and healthcare products at CPhI worldwide in Madrid from 9 to 11 October 2012. The FOSG 27 flip top closure sets new standards for effervescent tablet closures. Consumers can effortlessly – and painlessly – open the new packaging. Sanner is presenting a comprehensive range of practical solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, including the 360° Capsule, a new type of desiccant capsule, and TabTec on-the-move tablet packaging (Stand 10J90).

Medications and dietary supplements in the form of effervescent tablets are extremely popular among consumers. One of the key advantages is that the compounds easily dissolve in water and can be quickly absorbed by the body. Effervescent tablets are usually packaged in convenient tubes with resealable caps. Sanner, a market leader in this segment, is presenting its latest closure solution for effervescent tablet packaging, the FOSG 27 flip top closure, at CPhI in Madrid, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical networking event.

The most important aspect of effervescent tablet packaging for consumers is that the product can be quickly and easily removed from the container. "Senior citizens and people with impaired motor skills often struggle to open market-standard lids on effervescent tablet packaging," says Dr. Sabine Moter, Head of Innovation and Product Management at Sanner. "Our new flip top closure solves this problem – and introduces a new generation of effervescent tablet packaging that is more user-friendly." The new, hinged flip top closure can be easily opened and closed with one hand. An ergonomically designed thumb tab ensures that the lid can be painlessly opened, with less effort.

Along with maximum convenience, it is extremely important to ensure that effervescent tablets stay dry. The FOSG 27 flip top solution integrates the desiccant directly into the cap. Unlike other closures on the market, FOSG 27 is a closure that stays attached to the tube. This also promotes intuitive resealing of the packaging. A clearly visible tamper-evident strip shows at a glance whether the packaging has been opened. "This increases product safety and strengthens consumer confidence," Moter explains. "It also creates an opportunity to optimally position a brand-name product at the point-of-sale and make it stand out from the competition."
The FOSG 27 flip top closure fits standard round tubes with a diameter of 29 millimeters. Since it can be processed on existing filling lines, there is no need for effervescent tablet manufacturers to invest in new production facilities.

Along with the FOSG 27 closure, Sanner is presenting a variety of innovative packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors at CPhI. The 360° Capsule with integrated desiccant offers all-round protection against moisture. The capsule absorbs moisture through a cardboard disc on the top as well as through a unique grid structure in the side of the capsule. This ensures moisture absorption wherever the capsule is located in the container, even when it is on the cardboard side after the container is filled. The capsule also has two conspicuous ribs on the outer surface to ensure it is not inadvertently swallowed.

TabTec tablet containers guarantee maximum convenience on the go. The slim tablet packaging is particularly handy and can be easily kept in jacket or pants pocket. Its unique shape also makes the product stand out at the point-of-sale. Trade show visitors can get a close-up look at the practical shape of TabTec packaging at CPhl.
