MuCell Extrusion: Agreement to Provide Equipment to Commodore Solutions| Subj: Press-releses Officials from MuCell Extrusion LLC and Commodore Technology LLC (Bloomfield, NY) announced that they have concluded an agreement for MuCell Extrusion to supply process equipment and support services for new Commodore turnkey tandem extrusion lines running either microcellular polystyrene, polypropylene or polyethylene low density products. “In addition to MuCell process extrusion technology, we bring our customers leading-edge expertise in process development and co-development programs. Commodore is already well-known as a turnkey equipment supplier, and with this agreement in place they can now offer and supply complete MuCell lines to their customers for an expanded portfolio of products,” said Mark Lindenfelzer, President of MuCell Extrusion LLC. “Commodore is a strong supplier of tandem extrusion lines for low-density polystyrene products in Europe and South America, as well as being a regional player in North America. With this new arrangement, we expect that their sales in North America will grow rapidly, and they’ll be able to offer an expanded portfolio of products around the globe,” he added. Brad Braddon, President of Commodore Technology LLC noted that, “We’re experts in providing turnkey solutions to our customers, but until now, our process knowledge was limited beyond polystyrene. As we now expand to include polypropylene and polyethylene low density products using the MuCell process, we look forward to partnering with MuCell Extrusion to build our process expertise and to bring leading-edge turnkey solutions to our customers,” he said. “We offer a complete MuCell process extrusion line at our headquarters facility in Bloomfield, NY for commercial development,” said Braddon, “and we’re also delighted to announce that we recently delivered our first polyolefin line to a customer here in the United States.” MuCell technology is based on the direct injection of atmospheric gas (N2 or CO2) in its supercritical state. Injection during the supercritical state allows for a single-phase gas/polymer solution. Microcellular structure and controlled product density is achieved by the accurate control of gas concentration incombination with the proper release of extrusion pressure. MuCell has applied this technology to most plastic materials and processes. Polyolefins, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), nylon, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), urethanes, polystyrene (PS), fluoropolymers, and many copolymers have been used extensively with MuCell technology. Rigid sheet, low-density flexible sheet, film, pipe/tubing, and blow molding manufacturing processes are also compatible with MuCell technology. MuCell Extrusion LLC’s innovative and accessible technology brings significant material weight-savings and cost reduction opportunities, without compromising physical product performance to a broadrange of applications within the plastics manufacturing industry.
