OCTAL DPET™Sheet Creates Sustainable Packaging Option For Dried Fruits

Dried fruits, such as dates, figs, raisins, figs, apricots and apples, have a long history of use dating back to 4000 BC in Mesopotamia. They are prized because of their taste, nutritive value, and long shelf life. They continue to be a stable of the Middle Eastern diet which is why OCTAL exhibited its ground breaking project for date packaging at Gulfood 2012 in Dubai. OCTAL looks forward to bringing a similar project to the United States for dried fruits, especially for large growers in California and Arizona.

For dried fruit packaging, OCTAL’s DPET™ sheet, with its improved barrier properties, works effectively to preserve contents from deterioration while providing excellent packaging appeal especially for detailed printing designs in both Vacuum and Modified Atmosphere Packaging Applications (MAP) applications.

OCTAL products are suited for packaging baked goods, fresh produce, meat, cheese and yogurt all of which demand superior optical qualities together with strength, flexibility and the ability to maintain form. Compared to traditional plants, OCTAL’s DPET™ sheet uses 67% less grid electricity per kg of sheet…a fact that has been verified by independent, third party sources such as Intertek Expert Services, an internationally recognized, independent testing service. This translates to a carbon footprint 25% below that of traditionally produced APET films according to the Intertek study.
