Ferromatik Milacron to Present the New Modular F-Series at NPE

 |  Subj: Press-releses

Injection molding machine manufacturer Ferromatik Milacron will present a super fast F-Series model configured for a packaging application at NPE in Orlando, Florida, from April 1 through 5, 2012. Each of the five machine axes can be powered by either hydraulic or electric drives and these can be combined in whatever manner suits the manufacturing requirements of the user. At NPE the machine will feature electrically driven clamping and plasticizing movements with hydraulic drives for ejection, carriage, and injection.

The F 80, with a clamping force of 800 kN, features a size 40 Advanced Performance (AP) injection unit and a three-zone screw with a diameter of 40 mm and with an L/D of 22. With this configuration, the machine delivers injection speeds up to 500 mm/s. The F 80 offers tie-bar spacing of 470 x 470 mm and will use a 2-cavity mold from Collomb to produce round lids in a remarkable cycle time of 2.7 seconds. The parts have a diameter of 110 mm, a wall-thickness of 0.52 mm, and weigh 7 g each. The lids will be used for re-usable 0.6 liter containers for foods such as yogurt, cream, or ice cream.

Since its debut at K 2010, Ferromatik Milacron has brought five models in the new F-Series to market: the F 80, F 120, F 160, F 200 and F 350. “By the end of 2012 we will have introduced the complete F-Series line-up. There will be a total of ten models available, ranging from 500 to 6,500 kN, with 13 injection units in a number of performance classes to choose from,” said Dr. Thorsten Thümen, Director of Research & Development at Ferromatik Milacron.

The injection units offered with the F-Series include General Performance (GP), Advanced Performance (AP) and High Performance (HP) versions. GP injection units can reach speeds of 330 mm/s with an injection pressure of 2,300 bar, and are suitable for all medical and consumer goods production. AP injection units can achieve speeds of 500 mm/s with a pressure of 2,300 bar, and HP injection units are capable of 1,200 mm/s injection speeds and 2,500 bar of pressure. These are mostly used for packaging, with HP injection units being most suitable for thin-wall packaging applications.

Visitors to NPE can find Ferromatik Milacron at the Milacron booth 2803 in Hall West. The 900 m² booth includes exhibits of injection molding (Cincinnati Milacron und Ferromatik Milacron), extrusion (Cincinnati Milacron), blow molding (Uniloy Milacron) and mold making components (DME). Along with the F 80 by Ferromatik Milacron, four other injection molding machines and an extruder will be presented at work.
