Great Lakes Solutions accelerates momentum on new polymeric flame retardant

Emerald™ 3000 is a sustainable, polymeric flame retardant, designed to replace commonly used flame retardants in EPS/XPS foam insulation. This novel flame retardant offers the advantages of ease of substitution in existing production technologies with minimal adjustments while maintaining comparable fire safety performance at similar load levels to other high-efficiency brominated flame retardants being used in these applications today.

To meet increasing demand for plant-scale qualifications, Great Lakes Solutions has expanded capacity in its interim production facility. “We have received very encouraging feedback from our customers. Many have requested large-scale samples in order to qualify the product. We are committed to investing in our facilities to enable customers to move forward without constraints,” said Anne Noonan, Great Lakes Solutions President.
