Packaging market benefits from Russian economic recovery| Subj: Press-releses There has been a palpable recovery in Russia following the global economic and financial crisis. The gross domestic product is recovering and the rate of inflation has dropped. Growth is expected to be around 4 - 5 percent for the year as a whole and is currently forecast to remain at about that level for the next three years.* (*Source: German Foreign Office, October 2010) The packaging market is also benefiting from the more buoyant consumer market, as demand for packaging machines and materials picks up. This trend is also reflected in the number of registrations for the 19th UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA. The international trade fair for packaging machinery, packaging production and packaging material will take place at the Moscow exhibition centre Krasnaja Presnja from 25 - 28 January 2011, and will once again feature a cross section of the innovative products and materials available for packaging solutions for every sector of industry - from food & beverages to cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and consumer goods. It is organised by Messe Düsseldorf GmbH and its Russian subsidiary OOO Messe Düsseldorf Moscow in cooperation with the Italian event coordinator Centrexpo. INTERPLASTICA, Russia’s leading trade fair for plastics & rubber, will once again take place in parallel to UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA. The two events, which complement each other perfectly in terms of the range of products on show and the target groups, are expected to feature about 800 exhibitors, with the exhibition growing slightly in size, to cover approximately 15,000 square metres of exhibition space in total. The revival of the market is especially evident from the number of registrations for UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA received from Russian exhibitors. Even now, more Russian companies have registered than exhibited in January 2010, and many regular exhibitors have booked larger booths for 2011. The Russian exhibitors will include Bestrom, Elo-pack, Forintek, NHM Limited, Russkaya Trapeza, Tauras Fenix and the Ukam Group. Demand from abroad remains stable. In keeping with tradition there will be a strong presence of German and Italian exhibitors, including Bosch, ER-WE-PA GmbH, Krones, Schubert and Theegarten-Pactec from Germany and Bielloni Converting, Omet, Sacmi, SMI spa and Uteco from Italy. There will also be official national presentations from Germany, France and Italy. In addition to the presentations by the exhibitors, there will also be a one-day seminar for trade visitors from the Russian packaging industry, with lectures and debates on current trends in the industry.
