New standards for multi-cavity machine

New standards for multi-cavity machine

By delivering its first 14-cavity long-stroke machine of the BlowPac 4 series SIG, Blowtec has set new standards. The machine was installed in the Worms plant of Huber Verpackungen where it will be used to produce 3,600 PE-HD bottles/hr for non-food applications. Claiming it to be the world's first machine with a 14-fold mould and a centre distance of 100 mm, SIG says previously production with a similar number of cavities has been limited to cosmetic bottles.
Based on a standard BlowPac machine, for this application the stroke was enhanced from 1400 to 1480 mm and the number of cavities was increased from 12. With a clamping force of 400 kN, the hydraulic machine is equipped with a parison die head from Willi Müller.
A special feature is the servo-driven de-moulding with integrated leak test and seven test heads. Each of these test heads performs a leak test on two bottles in the cycle time of 14 seconds.
