Extruding with peroxide-free compoundsExtruding with peroxide-free compounds A new line of silicone rubber compounds offering improved performance and cure rates is available from Dow Corning. The high-consistency rubber (HCR) products known as Silastic Rapid Cure offer 33% enhanced elongation and 60% greater tear resistance due to a new platinum-curing system, which acts as a catalyst for faster curing even at room temperature. Besides improved cure rates, the compounds provide a non-sticky surface finish and a shelf life similar to that of peroxide-cured materials. Featuring proprietary stechiometric addition-curing technology, these products are particularly suited for extrusion applications. The platinum catalyst reduces bubbles in deep-section profiles and eliminates blooming on non post-cured products, thus eliminating the need for a secondary process to clear any un-reacted peroxide from the surfaces of finished products Source: Plastics & Rubber Asia Previous news |
