Rhodia launches Evolite™ by Technyl®| Subj: Press-releses Rhodia announced the launch of a major innovation in the field of thermoplastic composites. Evolite™ by Technyl® is a range of high performance polyamide-based continuous fiber reinforced materials. Unveiled at the K 2010 trade show, this composite achieves an optimal and unique balance between weight and performance. Available in recyclable pre-impregnated fabrics or consolidated plates, Evolite can be made of glass, carbon or other fibers. Parts made in Evolite will show excellent strength and toughness, enhanced crash resistance and excellent ageing properties, with end applications including transport seating, car bumper beams and front-end structures, racing bicycle frames or window frames. In addition, material fluidity allows faster production rates compared to thermoset technologies, with a major cost-competitive advantage. “Evolite is a breakthrough solution with considerable growth ahead of it” commented François Hincker, President of Rhodia’s Engineering Plastics Global Business Unit. “We see it as setting the standard for future generations of composites”. At K 2010, Rhodia is also presenting a complete offer of materials and technologies to help preserve non-renewable resources and reduce the environmental impact of plastic applications. They include: a new generation of unfilled TechnylStar® that will allow processors to make major energy savings; a certified halogen-free Technyl range for the photovoltaic industry; new polyamide powders that will challenge the limits of rapid plastics parts manufacturing.
