Plasticum launches the CLUBE at K 2010

 |  Subj: Press-releses

After many years of extensive development Plasticum succeeded in launching the CLUBE, an integrated closure and tube solution. This one-piece tube with integrated closure is produced by bi-injection moulding. Decoration is done by In-Mould-Labelling, further enhancing the product through high quality imaging. This new packaging concept offers substantial advantages for material savings and the environment. And because of the less complicated production process, flexibility and short lead times are guaranteed. The CLUBE production will be revealed at the K 2010 in Düsseldorf, 27 October – 3 November.

“Why hasn’t this been marketed before?” is one of the common reactions, showing the strength of this bright packaging innovation. The answer is simple: because it is rather ambitious to accomplish the CLUBE. Plasticum developed and patented a technology to manufacture bi-injection moulded tubes with an integrated closure, using a unique material formulation and applying innovative tooling techniques. This production process – in contrast with the traditional extrusion process – enables to produce the complete product including In-Mould-Label in just one single production step. There is no need for additional downstream equipment. The closure is fully integrated into the tube body, creating a new packaging concept called CLUBE. Since the tube shoulder has been eliminated, up to 40% material is saved.

Exactly this significant material saving gives a unique combination of advantages: both cost and environmental benefits. Material and weight reduction result in cost savings. Injection moulding CLUBES also means less waste and rejects during processing, and hence less energy consumption. Furthermore the plastic material is completely recyclable. All these eco-friendly improvements support the reduction of the carbon footprint.

The efficient production process of the CLUBE has a very short throughput time. Commercial delivery times can be reduced considerably. In addition, there is a high level of flexibility thanks to easy changeovers of colours and labels. Even small custom projects are feasible.
